"A job where I can say at the end of the day: 'I was really able to contribute to a better world', that's what I was looking for. The Rich North Sea offers not only the opportunity for a marine ecologist to be involved in the content of the profession, but also the satisfaction of applying that knowledge in practice. Together with colleagues, I can think about an ideal situation in which sustainable energy and nature enhancement come together, and then also be able to implement it. The North Sea is a busy sea with many human activities. I think that we will need wind energy in the coming century, and that placing wind turbines at sea offers real opportunities for nature, if we do it right now."
